Mumm wurde im Jahre 1827 von vier deutschen Einwanderern gegrndet, von denen drei die Gebrder Mumm waren. Mit einem von Anfang an hchsten Fokus auf die beste Qualitt, wurde G. H. Mumm bis heute zum drittgrten Champagnerhersteller. Der Name Grand Cordon bezieht sich auf das Ehrenband der franzsischen Fremdenlegion, das die Champagner von Mumm bereits seit dem Jahre 1876 schmckt und im Franzsischen Cordon Rouge heit.
