URQUHART (WEATHERED) - Tartans beginning with 'G' Instead the full sett isScottish Tartan Society notes say it is interesting to note that much of the forged sixteenth century manuscript on which the Vestiarium Scoticum was based was supposedly transcribed by Sir Richard Urquhart in 1721. Although this is sometimes called Urquhart Old or Ancient Urquhart, both are misnomers since this is younger than the other Urquhart tartans featured here.
